7:30 CONCRETE AND SUNSHINE (2002, 56 minutes) Nicole Cousino will be present to discuss both films. Her revealing documentary "Concrete & Sunshine" probes the function of prison today, as a critical site within the geographical/social/political landscape of California. Through conversations with prisoners and community members, this important examination investigates the impact prison has on citizens across the state. Isolation, as a theme, is also used to provoke questions about the role of the individual in society and our own relationship to the state as a collective body. (www.concreteandsunshine.com)
