Monday, May 17th, (TBA) – Coming Out Asian Style* Coming out as queer in the Asian Pacific Islander (API) community can create a difficult dynamic with a person's identity. Dealing with their double minority status based on sexuality/gender and race/ethnicity or culture, many API's have reported heightened feelings of isolation and depression. "Coming Out Asian Style" is geared towards facilitating a smooth coming out process for API's. Through creating referral networks, discussing the needs of the API community and role-playing ways of coming out, the workshop aims to help an often overlooked and underserved population in the Queer community.
*Being held at University of California, Santa Barbara For more information, contact Nikhil Mukherji at nmukherji@apihr.org or (323) 860-0876.
