April 24th is Mumia Abu-Jamal's 50th birthday, and even though a federal judge overturned his death sentence, he is still sitting on Pennsylvania's death row, and the courts still refuse to hear his exculpatory evidence.
To build for national demonstrations of 4/24 for Mumia, the Jericho Amnesty Coalition LA is bringing Ramona Africa, Minister of Communication of MOVE and the sole adult survivor of the bombing of one of MOVE's homes in Philadelphia, to Los Angeles to speak.
The main activity is Saturday, April 17 at 7 PM at Faith United Methodist Community Church, 1713 W. 108th Street in Los Angeles (off Western). The event will focus on freeing Mumia, the MOVE 9, and all political prisoners. Aztlan Unearthed/Urban Hawk Drummers and Medusa are scheduled to perform, and will be emcee'd by Thandi Chimurenga (KPFK's "Some of Us Are Brave").
The event is also co-sponsored by radio station KPFK-FM 90.7 Pacifica.
