We are proud to announce the unveiling ceremony ?Evolution of a Community,? which is an original mural design by local artist Tomashi Jackson. The ceremony honors the preservation and legacy of the West Adams historical area, in addition to celebrating neighborhood enrichment. The ?Evolution of a Community,? is a community mural, created to reveal a sense of pride and ownership to the community in which we live. While serving as a catalyst to evoke social change, breaking the cycle of negative behavior and to beautify the environment. We designed the ceremony to facilitate the public?s thirst for culture, education and entertainment.
Please come and join the festivities, this is a free-event for all ages to enjoy. The celebration will feature; live musical performances, spoken word, dance performers, local vendors and a silent auction of an original piece of the mural wall. Along with special honors being presented to all of the participating literary youth submissions of original inspirational thoughts and poetry.
This one-day event is being held on Saturday, April 24, 2004 from 1pm ? 3pm, located directly across the street from Salvin Elementary School, 1925 Budlong Avenue, and Washington Blvd., Los Angeles 90007 in the heart of Council District 1.
