PALESTINE 101: A History of Palestine and the Right of Return
TEACH-IN + FILM PREMIERE Saturday April 10 12 noon- 6pm (food and refreshments provided) Bunche Hall 1209B, UCLA
This event will feature presentations by Dr Jess Ghannam and Dr Zahi Damuni as well as the Los Angeles premiere of a documentary on Palestinian refugees titled "Palestine is Waiting".
DR. JESS GHANNAM is a psychoanalyst and a professor at the University of California-San Francisco. He is a grassroots activist and member of Al-Awda San Francisco and Al-Awda's international executive committee. He currently serves as the president of the San Francisco American-Arab Anti- Discrimination Committee. DR. ZAHI DAMUNI is co-founder of Al-Awda, The Palestine Right to Return Coalition, which is one of the largest international networks of grassroots activists dedicated to Palestinian human rights. He currently serves as elected member on Al-Awda's international coordinating and executive committees. Before relocating to the west coast where he is currently involved in biotech research, he was a tenured professor of Cellular and Molecular Physiology at Penn State College of Medicine.
*First Session* The History of Palestine from Al Nakba until the "Peace" Talks- by Dr Jess Ghannam A factual presentation on the history of Palestine, with special emphasis on Palestinian refugees, which will include rare photographs of Al Nakba and Palestine before 1948.

*Second Session* The Right of Return Under Threat: From Oslo to the Geneva Accord- by Dr Zahi Damuni A discussion of the recent attempts to undermine fundamental Palestinian rights, including the Right of Return.

*Third Session* The Real Grassroots Peace Initiative: What You Can Do- with Dr Ghannam and Dr Damuni A discussion of how you can get involved in activism for Palestine and an introduction to groups like Al-Awda and their role in defending Palestinian rights.
