DESCRIPTION:
The October 22nd Coalition against Police Brutality, Repression, and the Criminalization of a Generation Presents the first of a series of film screenings designed to bring light to the ongoing problems of police brutality and the infringement on the rights of the general public by law enforcement.

Urban Warrior, a gripping documentary that explores the trend towards the militarization of police departments across the country, will be the main program. From Waco to the WTO protests in Seattle, the film takes a close look at how the line between military operations and police tactics has become increasingly blurred. Anyone concerned with how our society is moving towards becoming a police state should definitely come and see this film.

In addition, we?ll be showing footage from past October 22nd demonstrations, along with short piece regarding Gonzalo Martinez, a young man who was killed by Downey police officers who were using M5 machine guns.

A discussion will follow the films and seating is limited. All proceeds go towards the October 22nd Coalition and the Echo Park Film Center
