LAWYERS GUILD RADIO SHOW - WED, 2PM - KPFK - 90.7 FM - PALESTINIAN RIGHTS
Today's Lawyers Guild Radio Show (every Wednesday, 2:00-3:00 p.m.; KPFK, 90.7 FM) features recent developments concerning the Israel/Palestinian conflict; developments further punishing Palestine and those who support Palestinian rights, such as: laws aimed at punishing companies supporting the BDS movement; Israel's declaration that it is now officially a "Jewish state" thereby formally confining its Arab residents to second class citizenship; the Trump Administration's cut off of aid to the Palestinians; and a new definition of "anti-Semitism" by the U.S. Department of Education's Civil Rights Division that essentially defines any and all criticism of Israel as anti-Semitic.
Host Jim Lafferty's guests include: Attorney Zoha Khalili, staff attorney at Palestine Legal, where she provides legal advice and advocacy support to Palestinian rights groups, students and professors on issues ranging from free speech violations, discrimination, harassment, surveillance and disciplinary charges; Attorney David Mandel, a legal aid attorney and professional journalist who has worked for nearly 50-years for peace and justice for Palestinians and Israeli Jews. He is now a full-time volunteer organizer, in Sacramento and nationally, with Jewish Voice for Peace. A member of the National Lawyers Guild, he's been deeply involved in leading the fight against anti-boycott legislation and other measures in the California State Legislature. And, finally, KPFK's own host of our Middle-East focus, Estee Chandler. Ms. Chandler is the founding organizer of Jewish Voice for Peace in Los Angeles, and was recently elected to the Jewish Voice for Peace National Board of Directors.
