The NION (Not In Our Name) project calls for a day of mass action to protest against the U.S. government's open-ended war on the world, and attacks on civil liberties within its own borders. This will be a National day of public-resistance in response to Bush's reactionary politics which is being carried out "in the name the American people"!
Demonstrations are being planned nation wide for October 6th adn 7th, to bring attention the one year anniversary of the U.S. war on Afghanistan. Everyone is encouraged to organize for, and/or participate in actions all over Southern California (colleges, universities, schools, government buildings, churches and so on) to publicly express resistance to the U.S. government's course of military aggression abroad, and domestic police state repressions. Specific events to be announced.
Locally we need everyone's input in deciding on whether the West Coast should have a regional event on October 6th (which would entail organizing transportation for protesters coming from as far north as Seattle), or if NION in Seattle, San Francisco and Los Angeles should have separate events on the same day (which would possibly lead to smaller turn-outs of protesters in each city). What do you think? Let us know. We need YOU!
Got your head in the sand, thinking you can do nothing? Wrong. You can:
Come to NION's weekly meetings on Wednesday night, 6:30 p.m., at the Peace Center, 8124 W. 3rd St, Los Angeles (half a block west of Crescent Heights). VOLUNTEERS NEEDED (no previous activist experience required)!!!
