Get ready for a duel! It’s violin vs. viola and the winner is… the AUDIENCE!
This superb concert features a double dose of talent: Santa Cecilia Orchestra Concertmaster Yi-Huan Zhao performs on violin beside violist Victor De Almeida. Enjoy the magnificent display of talent from this gifted duo as they perform Halvorsen’s beautiful Passacaglia on an original theme by Handel. In Halvorsen’s composition, Handel’s theme blossoms into a number of separate variations, some lyrical and expressive, others explosively virtuosic. The evening also includes duets composed by Mozart, Shcherbokov’s Kanzone for two violins, and Divertimento by Austrian composer Ernst Toch for violin and viola.
