Speak Truth to Power - Gaza Vigil

Tuesday, August 15 at 7:30 PM - 8:30 PM

La Cienega Park

8400 Gregory Way, Beverly Hills, CA 90211

Gather with us in La Cienega Park this Tuesday to learn more about the current electricity crisis in Gaza, to build community together by sharing our thoughts and prayers for its people, and to engage in a brief ritual to honor the lives that have been lost as a result of this crisis. Together we will #SpeakTruthtoPowerGaza.

The stories of suffering that come out of the occupation can be overwhelming. By collectively processing them and committing to action, we escape the freeze of helplessness. We turn pain into power. Bring your hope and your fear, poems and stories, songs and psalms. All are welcome to share, both your words and those of others that have moved you. We will mourn and we will mobilize to bring about a day when we will no longer need to.

MORE INFO:

Palestinians in Gaza have been living for over two months with only 2 hours of electricity each day since Israel and the Palestinian Authority cut the Strip's already inadequate supply of power. This means that the 2 million residents of Gaza are struggling to secure safe drinking water, that hospitals are facing imminent lack of fuel to keep life-saving machines running, and that millions of liters of untreated waste are being piped into the Mediterranean every day. This crisis comes in the midst of a decade-long blockade placed by Israel and Egypt on any goods reaching Gaza via land crossings.

This reality is unacceptable. As a movement of American Jews working to end our Community’s support for the Occupation, we are inviting the Jewish community to join us in standing up against these violent and oppressive actions against the Palestinian people. IfNotNow stands with the people of Gaza, for freedom and dignity for all, and against Occupation.

We pledge to #SpeakTruthtoPowerGaza. Will you? https://actionnetwork.org/forms/speaktruthtopowergaza
