WE NEED PEOPLE POWER!!! On Monday, June 19th, the divestment motion will be up for a crucial VOTE in the Budget and Finance Committee, paving the way for Los Angeles to divest at least billion of the city’s depositories. We are making history.

Fill the Budget an Finance Committee Meeting Room! We need a strong show of supporters!

Monday, June 19, 2017

2pm Budget and Finance Committee Room 1010

Los Angeles City Hall

200 N. Spring St, Los Angeles, CA 90012

For the past four months, Los Angeles has been a participant in a sweeping national movement to revolutionize the financial system at a city-level. After continuous public pressure and advocacy from Divest LA, a divestment motion has been introduced by Councilmembers Mitch O’ Farrell (CD13) and Paul Koretz (CD 5), seconded by Mike Bonin (CD 11).

With a majority vote, the motion will advance for a full vote by the General Council.

Indigenous leaders, Divest LA, and progressive voices from supporting organizations will hold a press conference at the steps of City Hall at 11 AM urging the committee to make the right decision before moving into the Budget and Finance meeting at 2pm to show their full support for the motion.

11am - Press Conference on West Steps of City Hall

2pm - Divestment Hearing in Budget and Finance Commitee, Room 1010

Press Conference Speakers:

Cheyenne L.E. Phoenix - Red Earth Defense

Shannon Rivers - Indigenous Collective, Former UN Delegate

Aura Vasquez – Commissioner for LADWP

Lauren Steiner – The Robust Opposition

Alliance of Californians for Community Empowerment

Phoenix Goodman - Revolution LA

Michele Milner - Divest LA

We need all water protectors, earth warriors, and allies to show up in FULL FORCE. Join us on the 19th and help bring people power right into the halls of centralized power. The success of the Divest LA movement will send ripple effects of change across the financial industry not only in Los Angeles, but across the country.

Our public funds MUST NOT finance fraud, corruption, the victimization of communities of color, or environmentally destructive pipelines! It's time for accountability and a new era of conscious banking.

RISE UP, this is a fight for our collective future!
