The Affordable Care Act - What Now?

After the collapse of the Republican’s effort to repeal it, the Affordable Care Act (ACA) remains the governing structure of health insurance in the United States. What is the future of the ACA?

Join us to learn about the future with two experts in healthcare policy who will discuss the successes and limitations of the ACA, identify the opportunities and challenges to strengthen it, describe actions the Trump administration may take to weaken it, and assess the options that California could take, including the creation of a single payer system.

TUESDAY, MAY 23 | 7:30–9pm

1434 N. Altadena Drive, Pasadena, CA 91107

Shana Alex Charles, PhD, MPP, is an Associate Professor in Department of Health Sciences at California State University, Fullerton. Prior to her present position, she was the director of the Heath Insurance Studies Program at the UCLA Center for Health Policy Research.

Peter Mendel, PhD, is a Senior Sociologist at the RAND Corporation in Santa Monica, California and member of our temple. His research focuses on organizational change and improvement in health care, and how our health systems can provide better outcomes and value to patients, families and communities.

This event is sponsored by the PJTC Social Justice Committee, and co-sponsored by Clergy and Laity United for Economic Justice (CLUE), Pasadena
