Forum on Postal Banking
Saturday, March 18 at 9:30 AM - 2:30 PM PDT
Laborers Local 300 Union Hall, 2005 W Pico Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90006
This forum has been organized by The California State American Postal Workers Union (APWU) and Allies

Now more than ever we need to expand public services, workers & unions! Adding Public Banks to All 31,606 Post Offices is a campaign we can win. 40 million in our communities are unbanked/ underbanked- ripped off daily by payday loans, pawn shops, auto title loans, spending billions-costing us 10% of our income!
How would you like to go to your neighborhood Post Office to use free ATM’s, cash your payroll check and other checks without fees, pay bills, get small loans, do direct deposit, money orders, prepaid cards, e-commerce, mobile transactions, & international $ transfers?
From 1911-1967 the Post Office had a successful Postal Savings System (PSS) of .4 Billion; Today 75% of all US money orders are through the Post Office. Postal banking, like the PSS and money orders, would be done by unionized (APWU) workers who already work inside our post offices. The Post Office, with 486,000 workers, is the largest employer of veterans (130,000) and African Americans (103,000) and Latinos (44,000) in the United States.
Like Bernie Sanders, Our Revolution supports postal banking and public banking in general. Join the postal workers union this Saturday to find out how you can help get this movement started.
