Healthcare is a Human Right March - Los Angeles

Sunday March 26, 2017 11 AM - 2 PM

Pershing Square Los Angeles

532 S Olive St, Los Angeles, California 90013

We come together under the banner of a simple truth: Health Care is a Human Right.

As the repeal of the ACA transpires, we cannot afford to be paralyzed by fear and anger. That is too easy, and only benefits the opponents of healthcare.

It's time to go on the offense.

In California, there is currently a bill called the Healthy California Act to GUARANTEE HEALTHCARE for ALL in this great state. SB 562.

We are taking our corporate politicians to task and pushing back against the false narratives of the pharmaceutical and insurance companies that exploit those who are ill.

The United States is the most expensive place to get sick in the world. Unlike other major developed nations, we are a country with a shocking number of people who are either without insurance or underinsured. We have people who are cutting their pills, skipping doses, or crossing borders because they can’t afford their medicine. A staggering percentage of families go bankrupt due to medical bills. This is a disgrace.

All the while CEOs of pharmaceutical companies make more money than CEOs of any other industry. Any other industry—you name it. The two industries that spend the most money lobbying our Congress are pharmaceutical and insurance companies. Why do you think that's the case? They don't want to be regulated and want the freedom to charge the vulnerable and desperate as much as they can.

We’re fighting back as the Republicans tool the repeal of the ACA. To strip people of healthcare and straddle them with debt is a curse to the sick and an obscenity to those who fight for a moral society. It’s time to empower ourselves with a medical system that brings down drug prices and covers EVERYONE.

Health Care is a Human Right—we will not give up this fight.
