LOS ANGELES – Estimates ranging from 300 to 500 people marched through downtown Los Angeles this Saturday. The event was organized by the October 22 Coalition which stages a National Day of Protest Against Police Brutality every year on October 22nd. The protest marched from Olympic down Broadway to the LAPD Parker Center where a rally was held.
The March was delay by police at Temple & Broadway due to a bomb scare at Parker Center. The suspected bomb turned out to be an empty box and the march was allowed to proceed on to Parker Center.
There was one reported incident between protestors and police at Main & Temple which resulted in the arrest of two women, both were minors, and reportedly released to their parents later that night. No word yet as to the charges. Many taking part in the march were past victims of police brutality and some had lost loved ones to police violence, so the mood of the marchers was understandable angry and militant.

Santa Ana police deploy equestrian unit to greet O22 protesters SANTA ANA, CA – When a small contingent of marchers
protesting police brutality arrived at Santa Ana
Police Department headquarters earlier this afternoon,
they discovered to their dismay that twelve police
officers and deputies mounted on horseback had been
deployed to greet them.
The rather unusual deployment of an equestrian unit to
face off such a tiny number of demonstrators not only
raised eyebrows about the spending priorities of the
Santa Ana Police, but brought up some questions about
the ability of persons exercising their constitutional
rights to access "public fora."
