This month Los Angeles, Pasadena & Long Beach Critical Mass rides coincide with the anniversary of Hurricane Katrina. Hurricane Katrina connects the dots between climate change, our addiction to oil & environmental racism. We can change this! This is a call for climate justice! Come with friends, banners, chants and rants to celebrate bike culture!
Calendar: Bike for climate justice on Friday, August 25 in LA, Long Beach, and Pasadena

Federal Communications Commissioners Jonathan Adelstein and Michael Copps will make a rare visit to Los Angeles on August 31 to listen to the public's concerns about localism and diversity in media. They will be joined by Congresswomen Hilda Solis and Diane Watson for a community dialogue on media ownership.
From the Calendar Tell the FCC: Town Hall Meeting! (There is also a pre-meeting workshop for media activists this Wednesday.)

Ten years ago, on August 18, 1996, the San Jose Mercury News articles uncovered the CIA connection with the crack epidemic in South Central Los Angeles. All major media networks including the Los Angeles Times would refute all the evidences brought up by the the San Jose Mercury, and a DEA officer testimony. The story exposed by a small local paper would have died, but the articles were posted on the San Jose Mercury website for the world to see. Later, under a lot of pressure, the editor of the paper would take all the articles off the website.
