PESANTE -USA, a Filipino peasant , human rights and environmental advocacy group based in the United States militantly, fully and wholeheartedly supports the call of ther Kilusan ng mga Magbubukid ng Pilipinas (KM) demanding the release of all six Mindoro farmers convicted of killings brothers Paul and Michael Quinto in 1997. Thousands of FIlipino protesters led by the militant Kilusang Magbubukid ng Pilipinas (KMP-The Philippine Peasant Movement) marched Friday to denounce President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo's campaign to amend the constitution and what they said was a spate of political killings in the Philippines. The Philippine Peasant Support Network(Pesante-USA) expressed solidarity with this nationwide mass action in the Philippines. As a Filipino peasant advocacy group, Pesante was formed in the U.S in 1991 and is a member of the Aliiance for a Just and Lasting Peace in the Philippines (AJLPP).
Missing PAMALAKAYA-ANAKPAWIS member fisherman found dead (tags)
A member of the fisherfolk alliance PAMALAKAYA , Napleon Bautista, affiliated with the Kilusang Magbubukid gn Pilipinas (KMP) who was allegedly abducted by Army soldiers from the 7th Division on August 31 was found dead on Thursday in Bulacan, a report here said.
AKBAYAN: Filipino people ready to oust GMA (tags)
13 July 2005 : AKBAYAN today warned the President that the Filipino people is capable of using extra-constitutional mechanisms to remove her if she continues to refuse to listen to the demands of various sectors that are pushing for her resignation. The group said that extra-constitutional means remain to be a legitimate and valid option, especially if the available constitutional remedies will just be tainted by the same traditional politicians who are interested in securing their political future.
