Portland Indymedia Moderates comments articles the owner doesn't like

by WAIYI Monday, Jun. 03, 2019 at 10:02 PM

the guy who runs this site trolls commenters who don't buy into the paranoid world view he pushes where nothing matters and you should stop using tech. When you point out what a tool he is, he freezes comments. But its' cool they've all been saved ....

Lately, Portland Indy media is little more than an outpost for conspiracy theories and Russia apologia. And whatever, but we didn't think they'd go so far as to actually freeze, delete, moderate comments just because of disagreement.

The evidence:

Missing comment from this article posted by an obvious racist :

It is clear from the timing of comments and posting style the owner of PIMC is the one who published it and defends it with demented non logic through the thread. Finally, after trolling his own website, he says something really dumb, is mocked for it and locks comments. This is the unpublished comment:

.................

@_

I see....

"What do they pay you cubicle laptop dudes, anyway? (whether by-the-hour or per-post) Not enough evidently. "

So you don't want readers to believe in the widely reported and well documented Russian interference and espionage into the USA's political affairs,

but YOU DO want them to believe anyone online who disagrees with you or mocks your tinfoil ridden comments is, what? An agent of the US government sent to troll Portland indymedia?

?????

Psst...it's okay, we both know you don't really believe in cubicle shills trolling Indymedia. Meaning it's quite likely you know very well Putin DID influence the American election and Trump is a foreign asset. Like so many so called "alternative" outlets/personalities--Glen Greenwald, Assange, Paul Joseph Watson--- have become....

.................

At this point he has all but confirmed himself to be the owner. But it needed to be tested to be certain. So going to this thread:

http://portland.indymedia.org/en/2019/05/437516.shtml

..where he had a meltdown after trying to convince readers there was NO COLLUSION, this comment was submitted and remains unpublished:

.................

Wondered how long before comments would get moderated...

lol2u2

Comments have been going up instantly. Now they stopped, at least in this thread:

http://portland.indymedia.org/en/2019/06/437534.shtml

Let's see if it'll go up here...IOW, is the site modded? Or just that thread?

And thanks for confirming "_"/lol"/YOU are in fact the loon who runs this site. And yes, you totally melted down, lol forever.

So.....the owner of PIMC has betrayed all the founding principles of the people who fought for Indymedia as he coopts this platform to spew right wing narratives defending Trump and Putin propaganda. He probably is also logging ISPs...in complete violation of Indymedia principles...and...what the hell, anyone who is paying attention already knows who this creep is:

https://twitter.com/iamjoeanybody

He has an interesting assertion on his website:

www.joeanybody.com/id9.html

Mar 14, 2019 - http://portland.indymedia.org/. 1. Cyber-autonomy: A Tactical Approach to Media PRIVACY AND ANONYMITY = Indymedia.

But privacy for who? Certainly not all the activists he and his friends harassed or outed on the Internets over the years.

IMMA thinking it privacy to hide himself, and his creepy friends and the fact Indymedia is nothing more than an empty shell.....

https://www.wweek.com/portland/article-1969-corporate-media-is-the-disease.html

There's lots of good stuff, but this is relevant to the latest comment freezings:

"Although there has always been censorship of messages posted by cops and right-wingers, dubbed "trolls," some current and former Indymedia activists say the Portland IMC is increasingly censoring progressives who are considered too moderate."

"Removing posts for no good reason is a "total abuse" of the system, says Herndon, who was surprised to hear they left the threats in place. "What's unfortunate is that the Portland IMC is backing the position in this case that violence is appropriate.""

Oh, what a tangled web....

And this is hilarious:

"Local freelance reporter and KBOO radio-show host Lisa Loving doesn't consider the site a viable news source. "I almost never go there," she says. "

Didn't the KBOO clowns use Indy as a platform to harass their station manager out of a job a several years ago? But creepyness apparently was always part of PIMC culture:

"Portland Tribune reporter Jim Redden, who founded the now-defunct alternative newspaper PDXS, is one of the few mainstream reporters in Portland respected by spArk. But Redden, a former WW reporter, is bothered by the anonymous posts. He recounts a bafflingly libelous attack on him that appeared on Indymedia last year, one that left him without recourse, since he could not locate the site's anonymous operators."

Got a feeling someone is going to pass a tip along to Mr. Redden... Not that he's a saint or anything. But fair is fair.

Oh, and expect the wire to experience more "technical difficulties" soon.
