Did Obama really save the Yezidis? YPG (anarchist-inspired Syrian Kurdish forces) fought back the Islamic State (ISIS) starting on 3/8

Press release from August 3rd, 2014

YPG reached Sengal - started engagement with Islamic State

According to local sources combatants of the People's Defense Units (YPG) Sengal have reached shortly after noon. They immediately began to battle against the Organization of the Islamic State (IS). The fighting is concentrated in the north of Sengal in place Sinunê.

The south kurdish Peshmerga forces, according to the same source, continue to refrain from fighting against IS. After two days of clashes, the Peshmerge had left their positions on 3 August and left alone the Yezidi population of Sengal in the fight against the Islamists. After abandoning Sengal, the KDP-Peshmerge were also planning to leave the area of Rabia on the border with Rojava (base to YPG - Editor) ahead of the advancing IS Islamists without a fight. Around 400 members of the Peshmerge are said to have fled into Rojava ahead of IS via the border crossing Til Koçer. Also in Rabia there have been clashes between YPG and the Islamic State.

In Sengal, the members of IS have apparently already committed the first massacre against the civilian population. According to the spokesman for the PUK (Patriotic Union of Kurdistan) in Mosul Xeyrî Şengali the Islamists at Til Izer near Sengal killed twelve people from the same family. In addition, dozens of girls and young women have been abducted by the Islamists. There are also reports of the destruction of religious sites of the Yezidis by the Islamists. Since the early morning hours, thousands of people from Sengal are on the run. The families who could not find any more vehicles for their flight are said to be fleeing on foot into the mountains surrounding the city.
