All elections confirm the class struggle that has preceded them and the 2012 presidential general election confirms the fact that there has not been much class struggle in this country. There has been some effort to bring this backward country into the fold of civilization with the placing of a repeal of the California death penalty, Prop 34, on the ballot by the voters, but as of 5 a.m., 11/7/12, it has 47% of the vote. The presidential election, with the re-election of the latest fascist war criminal in the White House with a bare 50.3% of the vote is no mandate and this termed out president is now a lame duck president. The 2016 presidential election begins today.

Let us begin with who voted. This country has some 310 million people. Assuming 25% are children, under age 18, that leaves 232,500,000 adults. Around 117 million people voted in the presidential election so once again, about half the adult population did not vote at all as usual, and that half is mostly the workingclass, the 80% of us who sell our labor for less than ,000 a year.

Democrat Obama won in traditional Democratic Party strongholds, the Northeast, Midwest and Far West, where most of the population is, and he had to push people to the polls in northern urban states such as Ohio, where all kinds of election fraud and voter discrimination took place as described on KPFA, 94.1 FM, especially by Greg Palast on Flashpoints. He lost in the old Confederacy, as well as border states West Virginia, Kentucky, old Klan states like Indiana, and most of the sparsely populated states West of the Mississippi, all Republican strongholds or highly contested areas. With the exception of Texas, the Democrats won in all the heavily populated states, but still only received some 59 million votes to the Republicans’ 56 million votes.

The Green Party candidate for president, Jill Stein, won 396,684 votes so far, nationally, an excellent showing in a winner-take-all, anti-democratic US voting system. The Green Party is on the ballot in at least 45 states and Washington, D.C. In California, Jill Stein won 56,968 votes. Green Party registration in California is 115,000.

California’s socialist Peace & Freedom Party candidate, Roseanne Barr, received 48,525 votes nationally, and in California, with 94% of precincts reporting, 36,176 votes. For a socialist candidate in this viciously anti-socialist country, that is as good as it gets. Peace & Freedom Party registration in California is 61,000.

California’s population is 38 million. Assuming 25% are children, there are 28,500,000 adults in California, and with 94% of precincts reporting, 9 million votes have been cast, less than half of the adult population. This figure will certainly increase in the next 30 days as ballots are counted. The usual turnout for a presidential election in California is 13 million.

In California, Democrat Obama won 59% of the vote or 5,474,000 votes. Republican Romney won 38% of the vote or 3,542,000 votes. California’s Democratic Party registration is 7,966,000 or 43% and the Republican Party registration is 5,356,000 or 29%. California has 3,800,000 decline to state voters, 20% of the registration.

The California propositions had some notable propositions and so far, at least one clear victory for the workingclass, the passage of Prop 36, modifying the 3 strikes law. Here are the results so far:

Prop 30, the tax initiative that allows for private charter schools, is passing with 54% voting Yes.

Prop 31, a reactionary state budget measure, is losing with 60% voting No.

Prop 32, the anti-labor initiative, is losing with 56% voting No.

Prop 33, the auto insurance industry’s latest money maker, is losing with 54% voting No.

Prop 34, the abolition of the death penalty, is losing with 52% voting No. The bright side of this vote is that this proposition made the ballot at all. More than 2/3 of the countries of the world have abolished the death penalty by law or in practice, but not the US. The US does not lead in anything except war and fascism.

Prop 35, the reactionary 15 years to life prison promoting measure for alleged human trafficking, is passing with 81% of the vote, proving that there is no thinking going on among the voters. The Democratic Party promoted this reactionary measure, and there is a lot of robot voting in this state among Democrats.

Prop 36, the amending of the prison-promoting 3 strikes law, is fortunately passing, with 68% voting Yes, so that people who steal a loaf of bread, a felony, as their third offense, will not be sent to prison for life.

Prop 37, the very simple, inexpensive labeling of our food so we know if it is genetically modified, is losing with 53% voting No. This label exists in the rest of the industrialized world at no increased cost to the consumer. People fell for Monsanto’s TV advertising lies; they should get away from the stupid TV and participate in the real world, such as joining Peace & Freedom and the Green Party and actively building these parties.

Prop 38, the education tax promoted by a charter schools proponent, is losing with 72% voting No.

Prop 39, the tax on out-of-state businesses who do business in California, is passing with 60% voting Yes.

Prop 40, the redistricting referendum, is passing with 71% voting Yes.
