A riff on a Krugman column.

I have few words to say here: Paul Krugman covers is mostly in op-ed.

My bitch is about FREEDOM, or the illusion of freedom that we have through the market.  Americans LOVE the idea of FREEDOM, and today are regularly manipulated by their love.

Ron Paul says that the person is free to not get insurance, and suffer consequences.

Now... he says the responsible thing is to get a health plan.  But then says that one is free to not buy insurance.

Where's the logic in this, that freedom is defined by the freedom to do something stupid and irresponsible, that will cause harm not only to the person, but to the community?

Sorry, the real way to be free is simple: those who can afford it must pay into a healthcare fund, and pay for universal healthcare.  Most working people will be able to afford to pay into the fund.

Obamacare does that, of course.  But Obamacare doesn't have a "public option."  It's not a single-payer system, either.  Nor is it a national healthcare system.  Of all the possible solutions, Obamacare's the least effective of them, but it's better than suffering the costs of people who fail to purchase insurance, which is what we have today.

Real "freedom" is the freedom to not worry about bankrupcty due to medical costs.
