The Socialist Party of California is inspired by the words, the actions and the lives of people who are dedicated to fighting for justice and equality. These are just some folks we'd like to say thanks to. ...

To Noam Chomsky and the late-Howard Zinn: We are deeply grateful for your tireless dedication to exposing truths and your actions on behalf of them. One day, your texts will be required reading for our nation’s youth — we will work to see that day.

To Norman Finkelstein, wherever you may be: We are humbled by your courage and your quest for truth. The effort to deny you tenure was disgusting, to say the least. We haven’t forgotten and we hope that life finds you well. When we meet, a big hug is coming your way.

To Cynthia McKinney: You are the change we could believe in. Yes, YOU can!

To Subcomandante Marcos and the EZLN: There are many in the U.S. who still carry your struggle close to their hearts. One day, we will stand arm in arm, unified. The Zapatistas perhaps best represent the closest example of socialism, as Marx and Engels envisioned, in the world today.

To Ralph Nader: The United States and its citizens owe you an enormous debt of gratitude. We can only hope that you sleep knowing that your tireless efforts to improve our lives are deeply appreciated.

To Amy Goodman: May your quest for truth in reporting spawn future generations of journalists who fulfill the standards you continue to set.

To Naomi Klein: You are an inspiration.

To the Black Americans, Asian Americans, Muslim Americans, Latin Americans, GLBT communities — and all other groups systematically discriminated against — including all working-class people who call the United States home: The U.S. is a better place to live because we can call another neighbors. Without you, there is NO United States!!!!!!!!

To the peoples of Egypt, Venezuela, Bolivia, and everywhere else in the world where the struggle for democracy, equality and justice exist: We are your brothers and sisters.

Finally, to Stewart Alexander, Billy Wharton, and Greg and Andrea Pason: Thank you for keeping the socialist vision alive in the United States.
