The Socialist Party Los Angeles calls the proposed Acts to defund Planned Parenthood another attempt by the patriarchal U.S. government to strip women of their basic human rights.
The U.S. spends approximately 0 million each day to fight a war in Afghanistan where women make up the majority of civilians who are not only wounded by non-combatant warfare but who are also raped, assaulted and left homeless, hungry and without healthcare. At the same time the U.S. drains taxpayer dollars to fund the so-called wars on terror, conservative Senators are trying to defund Planned Parenthood by introducing the No Taxpayer Funding for Abortion Act, the Abortion Provider Prohibition Act and the Protect Life Act. Without Planned Parenthood, which provides vital services ranging from STD testing and birth control to health counseling and life-saving pap smears, more than 3 million women who cannot afford health insurance will be left without basic health services. The Socialist Party Los Angeles calls these proposed Acts another attempt by the patriarchal U.S. government to strip women of their basic human rights.
The Socialist Party Los Angeles together with the Association of Filipinas, Feminists Fighting Imperialism, Re-feudalization, & Marginalization (AF3IRM) invite all freedom-loving women and allies to join a march at the Westwood Federal Building on Tuesday, March 8th to protest the continued use of federal funds to kill women abroad in unjust wars, while women’s rights and services are also being attacked across the United States. We will stand for it no longer!
