This is how the Alliance-Philippines (AJLPP) calls the visit of Philippine President Arroyo to attend the Washington DC conference with US President Obama and the United Nations in new York on the new nuclear arms strategy Obama unveiled on Tuesday.
They will say Philippine President Arroyo wants to support President Obama too prod the world toward disarmament and stronger anti-terrorism efforts by rallying disparate interests — arms controllers, U.S. allies, nuclear- and non-nuclear nations and Republicans and other military hawks back home.
But the Philippine President has no business on her visit but to scurry for favor from US President Obama. She wants to be blessed for scheme to prolong her stay in power or an arrangement that she is the “Empress Dowager” or the power behind the throne even when there is a sitting president.
But the Filipino-American community will not take this arrangement sitting down. Even if the US favors this for their interest. They will never want a repeat of the Marcos dictatorial regime in a brand new name-“The House of Arroyos.
DISMANTLE ALL US NUCLEAR ARSENAL NOW
PGMA has no business with the Obama Nuclear Posture Review which to others represents a significant retreat by the U.S. from its traditional posture of reserving the right to use nuclear force against other nations, even as it maintains a robust arsenal to check Russia and retains Iran and North Korea as potential targets.
PGMA and her junket is just wasting people’s money for an overseas trip that could be use for more productive endeavors like schools and public welfare in the Philippines.
