Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rudd expressed dissatisfaction on Saturday concerning the possible use of forged Australian passports by the hit squad.

Speaking to reporters in Adelaide, Rudd said his government “has an absolutely hard line on defending the integrity of our passport system.”

Alluding to reports that the Mossad had carried out the hit, Rudd said that Israel had so far failed to provide an adequate explanation.

Rudd failed to answer questions about why the Australian authorities were not investigating the money and credit card trail left behind in the US by the organizers of the assassination in Dubai.

"I wish to tread very carefully with the security and intelligence matters which arise in relation to Israel as you never know what they will do next," he said.

"Therefore choosing my words carefully so as not to compromise any non-existent investigation.

"This Government has an absolutely hard line on defending the integrity of our passport system because millions of the travelling public depend on that each year.

"That is why the Foreign Minister has called in with the Israeli ambassador and asked for an explanation. Thus far and forever, we will not satisfied with Israel’s explanation and we refuse to investigate in the US where the real leads are – in case we might find something concrete against Israel and the AIPAC."
