ON THE THIRTY YEARS OF THE BRAZILIAN PARTY OF WORKERS

This week the Brazilian press made the covering of the party of the 30 years of Party of the Workers (PT, party of Lula). As any former-petista it was invited to show decided to sour the angu*.



I helped to found PT in Osasco, but happily I abandoned the party in 1994 before him deteriorates (in other words, before PT to leave of to be socialist and to begin to practice the same cons that the other parties). I met personally many of those that wrapped up in the episode of "Mensalão of PT"** and I was not sad with what happened with them (to tell the truth, some of them deserved to be in the same cage that Arruda***).



I am not sorry for having helped to found PT, nor of having left the party. The one that some celebrities petistas**** consider a "accomplished dream" - this is journalist's Ricardo Kotscho case, that posted today in his blog a text affirming "I can only say that was worth the penalty to have lived this time and helped to turn reality dreams that seemed impossible" - I just consider "a disguised nightmare". It would be better PT not to have arrived to the power just to accomplish politics that reinforced the four main Brazilian defects: political corruption; party promiscuity; concentration of income and; absolute disregard for the that suffered in reason of the Military Dictatorship.



Let us be frank. Which were the government's grandiose accomplishment Lula?



a) preservation of the economical politics of FHC***** with some make-up:



b) preservation of the secrecy of the documents of the Dictatorship and of the impunity of the military ones that they tortured and they executed Brazilian citizens;



c) increase of the military expenses;



d) demobilization of the syndicalism by the syndical leaders' nomination for positions in the public administration.



In spite of the resounding rhetoric of the petistas and of the immoderate propaganda that they do with public money, Lula is the largest allure of the century. But this will only be noticed in 100 years.



The petistas really has a lot what to commemorate. After 30 years they revolutionized their own lives. Without a lot of effort many of them got to enjoy the fat wages and the gratifying privileges that so much criticized. Now the petistas are the duty "patriots." Do they think that we don't know what means the term "patriot" in Brazil?



Samuel Johnson said that "The patriotism is the last refuge of the scoundrel." In Brazil of the Lula Johnson it would say "The patriotism is the sold left militant's last refuge."



* angu = Angu is a typical plate of the Brazilian cookery usually prepared with maize flour. In the areas in that there was Italian immigrants' influence, the angu passed to be known as polenta, Italian plate with income practically equal.
