The Philippine Peasant Support Network (PESANTE-USA) vehemently condemns the AFP martial law mind set as elucidated by the 2nd Division general George Segovia in his statements against the detained Morong 43. For PESANTE-USA, the AFP has not rid itself of the martial law mindset as provided for by the post EDSa 1987 Constitution. Instead of protecting the people, they are persecuting those who are serving the people-the health workers known as the Morong 43 now illegaly detained in Camp Capinpin, Rizal, the home of the 2nd Division, Philippine Army.

PESANTE CONDEMNS AFP's MARTIAL LAW MIND SET
Los Angeles- The Philippine Peasant Support Network (PESANTE-USA) vehemently condemns the AFP martial law mind set as elucidated by the 2nd Division general George Segovia in his statements against the detained Morong 43.
For PESANTE-USA, the AFP has not rid itself of the martial law mindset as provided for by the post EDSa 1987 Constitution. Instead of protecting the people, they are persecuting those who are serving the people-the health workers known as the Morong 43. They are now illegaly detained in Camp Capinpin, Rizal, the home of the 2nd Division, Philippine Army.
General Segovia stated that the Morong 43 " was a sort of the NPA Department of Health" and the Morong 43 were " NPA medical officers".
While this an tacit admission that the underground NPA is a worthy enemy , for PESANTE -USA this sets a dangerous trend because the the AFP can arrest "legal personalities" because they are connected to the NPA.
Martial Law Mentality
The AFP is acting like the police, the persecution and the law itself even defying the Supreme Court. The AFP like during martial law ise conducting trial by publicity by saying the Morong 43 were " NPA's and communist and are NPA medical officers."
General Segovia must be ashamed of himself by acting like minions of the old Marcos martial law or the GMA new de facto martial law. For sure Segovia will be awarded by GMA maybe by being the Army Chief like General Esperon in 2006.
Conduct Unbecoming
As if they did not graduate form the PMA and do not know how to behave like officers and gentlemen. Unlike the detained General Miranda and Col. Querobin of the Marines and Gen Lim of the Scout Rangers who went to jail for their principles, General Segovia is a relic of martial law. And so are his boys.
Segovia maybe rewarded by GMA and her US masters but he will gain the enmity of the Filipino people like the guardia civils of the Spanish times and the torturers during the Philippine revolution of 1896.
He like his Spanish namesakes of the Spanish inquisition will suffer the inglorious end of all torturers!
