The 37th year of the declaration of martial law in the Philippines by the US-Marcos dictatorship was marked with a forum in Los Angeles and discussion meetings in San Francisco and New York. In Los Angeles, the AJLPP made a presentation at the Party for Socialism and Liberation (PSL) Forum on the Philippines on Friday, September 18. At their LA office at 137 Virgil St. Los Angeles, CA 9004. KMB leader and high school teacher Mark Ramos spoke on class struggle and liberation in the Philippines at a crowd of at least 70 persons. . Also in attendance were a group of Filipinos under the Ecumenical Fellowship For Justice and Peace (EFJP) based in California.

Alliance Philippines Marked 37th Martial Law Declaration with a Forum and Discussion Meetings in the United States

Los Angeles – The 37th year of the declaration of martial law in the Philippines by the US-Marcos dictatorship was marked with a forum in Los Angeles and discussion meetings in San Francisco and New York.

In Los Angeles, the AJLPP made a presentation at the Party for Socialism and Liberation (PSL) Forum on the Philippines on Friday, September 18. At their LA office at 137 Virgil St. Los Angeles, CA 9004.

KMB leader and high school teacher Mark Ramos spoke on class struggle and liberation in the Philippines at a crowd of at least 70 persons. . Also in attendance were a group of Filipinos under the Ecumenical Fellowship For Justice and Peace (EFJP) based in California.

“ Whether there is elections or not, all elected presidents of the Philippines vows and profess loyalty to the United States and implements US policies like the charter change in the Philippines.” Ramos stated

In San Francisco and New York, AJLPP groups held house meeting and discussions remembering martial law, the people’s martyrs and the prevailing situation akin to martial law.

Prof. Guillermo Ponce De Leon of the Kilusang Dekada 70 (KD 70) in the San Francisco meeting last Sept. 21 stated that “ there is de facto martial law in the Philippines. Just look at the proliferation of retired and active generals in the GMA-cabinet. It is the same as the Marcos years.”

On September 21, 1972 dictator Ferdinand Marcos declared martial law in the Philippines, But he only publicly declared overt the controlled media on the night of September 23, 1972 after has he has arrested and jailed all opposition to his dictatorial rule.

More than 30,000 activist were slain or declared missing during the 14 years of martial law. The US-Arroyo regime is becoming another Marcos martial rule copy this time.
