LANNY DAVIS, ldavis@orrick.com, Pres. Clinton's "Special Council" is lobbying Congress in support of the military coup in Honduras. Supporters of democracy should contact his firm in protest.

LANNY DAVIS, former Pres. Bill Clinton's Special Counsel, admitted on Friday Aug. 7's "Democracy Now" broadcast that he is a paid lobbyist for the "Latin American Council of Business Leaders", which he characterized as a "Chamber of Commerce"-like group in support of the military coup that ousted democratically elected Honduran President Manuel Zelaya in June.

Since then, the brutal regime has imprisoned and even murdered protesters. Davis refused to acknowledge the regimes crimes, instead characterizing the ouster as "due process of law" ordered by the Honduran Supreme Court and Congress.

DAVIS accused "Democracy Now" host Amy Goodman of being an "ideologue" for labeling the regime as a "coup" in her introduction of Davis.

DAVIS also attacked Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez, and implied he was backing Zelaya's attempt to conduct a non-binding referendum on term limits in Honduras, which is the rationale used by coup leaders for overthrowing Zelaya.

According th the D.C. bar web-site, Davis works for the law firm of Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliff, LLP, 1152 - 15TH St., Washington, DC 2005-1707 Tel. (202) 339-8442. His e-mail is ldavis@orrick.com.

DAVIS was an equally zealous partisan of Hilary Clinton in her failed primary Presidential campaign last year, often interrupting Obama supporters on CNN and other talk shows.

DAVIS met Bill & Hillary at Yale University, a well-known conduit and training ground for CIA operatives since the 1950's.

Although DAVIS denied to Goodman that he has contacted Hilary at State or Pres. Obama on behalf of his Honduran business clients, it is a fact that recently the Obama administration has cooled from its initial backing of the return of the democratically-elected Zelaya to the Honduran Presidency.

This waffling prompted 2,000 protesters to converge on the US embassy in Honduras on Thursday.
