Obama's warning and too many Israeli body bags did the trick

Israeli security cabinet cancels “third phase” of Gaza attack.
Pressure from returning body bags and a direct threat from Obama seem to have done the trick.
The Israeli security cabinet said the “third phase” of the attack would have cost Israel up to a hundred soldiers.
With the upcoming Israeli election these figures were not palatable to Livni or Barak.
Coupled with Obama’s warning to Israel that he would withhold aid, the security cabinet decided that the slaughter was over and that Israel should withdraw from Gaza.
The great Golani and other brigades had fought an impressive battle with women and children and won.
They have inflicted 5,000 casualties (500 dead) on the population of Gaza.
Israel has disgraced itself around the world.
Israel is now seen as a scum terrorist state and despite Solow and AIPAC’s control over the American election system will find American aid, promised by Bush, impossible to get.
Hamas have won a great victory and have been strengthened beyond recognition.
