A strong delegation of the Filipino American Veterans led by Justice for Filipino American Veterans (JFAV) –San Francisco met and dialogued with Congressman Bob Filner in the San Francisco War Memorial last night, October 30. The veterans led by Commander Mordeno and Yoma and JFAV’s Augustus Pedalizo confronted Filner while on a break on his address to American Vietnam War veterans and reiterated their call for the reconciled bill and the convening of the joint conference committee on the lameduck session of the US Congress on November 17, 2008.

Filipino Veterans Confronts Filner in San Francisco, Demands Recognition and Equity

San Francisco-- A strong delegation of the Filipino American Veterans led by Justice for Filipino American Veterans (JFAV) –San Francisco met and dialogued with Congressman Bob Filner in the San Francisco War Memorial last night, October 30.

The veterans led by Commander Mordeno and Yoma and JFAV’s Augustus Pedalizo confronted Filner while on a break on his address to American Vietnam War veterans and reiterated their call for the reconciled bill and the convening of the joint conference committee on the lameduck session of the US Congress on November 17, 2008.

For his part, Filner assured the veterans that a joint conference committee will be convened and promised the veterans that “ Your struggle will be our struggle”.

He then signed the JFAV petition calling for recognition and benefits as well as no to the lump sum and quit claim of HR 6897.

He reiterated the same theme in his speech to all veterans that attended the forum of the effects of Agent Orange of Vietnam war Veterans that was held in the War Memorial Center in San Francisco. Rudy Acersion. War Memorial Commissioner sponsored the affair.
