Today's Mailer Gives California District 23 Voters Fed Up With Both State Senate Candidates More Reasons to be Fed Up

Today's Lloyd Levine mailer in the California Senate District 23 Democratic Primary has a picture of a street sign named "Integrity." The second page shows four copies of campaign filing statements of donors to his opponent Fran Pavley.

The second example shows a filing by Carbon Free Votes for Fran Pavley, a Project of Edvote, Inc. of a donation received from the California Medical Association Small Contributor Committee of $50,000. The mailer states: "Fran Pavley's other large financial backers include: The California Medical Association, doctors fighting against single-payer universal health insurance, just contributed $50,000 to support Fran Pavley."

Under single payer, doctors could see a reduction of their personal income.

Levin's mailer shows how his researchers have discovered that support for single payer and for outgoing State Senator Sheila Kuehl's SB 840 single payer plan pervades District 23 despite the affluence and ability to afford private insurance in the district, the main stream media's refusal to recognize the issue, and pervasive opposition by health insurance companies.

While Levine criticizes Pavley for taking money from single payer opponents, Levine himself, proclaimed "Lloyd Levine -- King of Luxury Junkets" in an earlier Pavley anti-Levine mailer for his 4-star trips around the world paid for by special interests for whom Levine carried legislation as Chairman of the Assembly Utilities and Commerce, no one could oppose single payer more than Levine, as a career legislative advocate for Sacramento special interests.

The brochure also documented $10,000 received by the Edvote group from the Doctors Pac, in Napa. The Doctors company provides malpractice insurance for doctors.
