Historic Filipinotown, Los Angeles- Justice for Filipino American Veterans (JFAV), in conjunction with the American Coalition for Filipino Veterans (ACFV), Peoples CORE and Search to Involve Pilipino Americans (SIPA), will be hosting a community action forum on Thursday, January 24, 2008, at 6:00 PM, The Forum will be held at SIPA’s community room.

Veterans groups like Society of Guerillas and Sc outs (SGSI), United Filipino American Veterans (UFAV) and the Veterans Federation of the Philippines(VFP) , lobbyists, organizers, and other supporters will update the community on the current progress of campaign efforts and relevant legislative bills in the continued pursuit of recognition of the Veterans sacrifices in World War II.

Filipino American Veterans continue to fight for recognition and equity, even as their comrades fall around them. 250,000 enlisted to aid the American forces in World War II, and only 40,000 are still alive, 10,000 of which live in America. Dozens pass away every day. They have struggled for over 60 years for the benefits they were promised by the U.S. government during WWII, benefits and rights that were taken away with the passage of the Rescission Act of 1946.

The forum will provide the community with the opportunity to meet those involved with the campaign, as well as provide a venue for discussion about future actions and efforts. It will be held at Search to Involve Pilipino Americans, located at 3200 West Temple Street, Historic Filipinotown, Los Angeles, CA, 90026

Justice for Filipino American Veterans (JFAV) is community organization that seeks to call attention to the plight of Filipino and Filipino American veterans of World War II. Based in Historic Filipinotown, Los Angeles, JFAV is led and supported by veterans, students, and volunteers of all ethnicities and ages.
