Focus The Nation: Global Warming Talk at CSULA

by Humanist Association @ CSULA Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2007 at 8:55 PM

As part of the nationwide "Focus The Nation" effort, which will include over 800 high schools and colleges, Cal State L.A. will begin a series of events on Global Warming with a talk by plant biologist Dr. John Gamon.

In the weeks to come, the Humanist Association at Cal State L.A. will begin a series of events on Global Warming.

On Wednesday, November 28, 2:00-4:00 PM, we will present a talk and PowerPoint presentation by Dr. John Gamon of the Biology Department. This talk will be held in the Golden Eagle 3rd Floor Ballroom. It will be the tenth week of the quarter, so take a break from studying for finals and come hear about this important issue!

Dr. Gamon, who has done research in Alaska as well as Southern California's grasslands (and, four years ago, saw his experiments destroyed by wildfires!) is currently the ONLY CSULA faculty member who is collecting data on Global Warming in the field. He will be talking not only about his work but about what we can do about the future.

The event with Dr. Gamon will be only the prelude to more activities on Global Warming at CSULA. We, the Humanist Association, have joined the national network called Focus The Nation, which now has over 800 high schools and colleges pledged to take action on Global Warming on January 31, 2008.
