BMORE'S GOT YOUR BACK: Solidarity with immigrants and victims of LAPD police brutality

On Monday, May 5, Baltimore organized a rally to show solidarity with Los Angeles immigrants attacked by LAPD, and to support immigrants' rights nationwide. Immigrants are facing a growing climate of hostility and violence, from police brutality to I.C.E. raids which have displaced hundreds of workers from their families.

Following on the unprovoked police attack on immigrants and their supporters in Los Angeles' MacArthur Park after the demonstration on May 1st — in which riot cops beat, gassed, and shot rubber bullets at women, children, the elderly, and the press (including Fox News!) — and in a context of increased repression aimed at cutting down the millions-strong movement for amnesty and legalization for those without papers, over 30 people turned out this afternoon (5/7) for a rush-hour rally near the I.C.E. (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) Building in downtown Baltimore.

Chanting "LAPD: WE DEMAND AN APOLOGY" and "NO BORDERS, NO NATIONS: STOP DEPORTATIONS," the spirited crowd included members of the Baltimore Industrial Workers of the World, the Baltimore Algebra Project, the Red Emma's Collective, and the International Socialist Organization. Hopefully this is the beginning of a more organized and larger effort to support those whose only crime is being without documents. NO ONE IS ILLEGAL!
