Medical Cannabis Patients and Supporters come together on Monday, April 30, at 12:00PM to protest ongoing abuses at the hands of the LAPD.

Los Angeles, CA (April 28, 2007) . On Monday, April 30, at 12:00PM, Medical Cannabis Patients and their supporters will rally in front of the Van Nuys Government Center on the corner of Van Nuys Blvd. and Erwin St. They will gather together with distinguished speakers to address the recent abuses this community has suffered at the hands of the LAPD.

The most recent of these abuses occurred on Thursday, April 26, when LAPD Narcotics detectives raided a medical marijuana collective, The Karma Collective, after patrolmen responded to a report of a burglary. Despite the protection offered under California State Law, one of the collective operators was arrested and charged with possession of “foodstuffs laced with marijuana.” The detectives initially entered the premises without a search warrant, took the operator captive without reading the Miranda rights, and desecrated a religious icon inside the collective.

This attack on medical cannabis edibles has sent shockwaves through the medical cannabis community, where patients rely on edible cannabis as one of the safest, healthiest, and easiest ways to consume medication. Patients, Caregivers, Doctors, and any peaceful supporters are encouraged to come show their support. Please contact Alex Grabiner with any questions.
