The Alliance for A Just and Lasting Peace in the Philippines (AJLPP) shared the progressive Filipino democratic movement joy and relief over the Supreme Court decision for the detained BAYAN MUNA Congress person Satur Ocampo. It proved US President and jurist John Quincy Adams statement; “ The independence of the court safeguards the independence of the nation.” While we savor the tactical victory we are not completely happy. Congressperson Ka Bel ( Crispin Beltran) is still languishing in jail together with more than 200 other political prisoners like the Mamburao 6 and the Tagaytay 5 all of whom are peasants. We should exert all efforts to free all political prisoners and stop the political persecution under the US- Arroyo regime.

Los Angeles--The Alliance for A Just and Lasting Peace in the Philippines (AJLPP) shared the progressive Filipino democratic movement joy and relief over the Supreme Court decision for the detained BAYAN MUNA Congress person Satur Ocampo.

It proved US President and jurist John Quincy Adams statement; “ The independence of the court safeguards the independence of the nation.”

The AJLPP also shared the revolutionary optimism of Ka. Satur when he said: “ “At the very least [the high court] will order the case reinvestigated; at most, it will quash the information altogether. The fact that the Supreme Court granted me bail indicates that the government violated the process in filing the charge against me and that the charge itself is defective and thus I should be entitled to my freedom”

While we savor the tactical victory we are not completely happy. ANAKPAWIS Congressperson Ka Bel ( Crispin Beltran) is still languishing in jail together with more than 200 other political prisoners like the Mamburao 6 and the Tagaytay 5 all of whom are peasants. We should exert all efforts to free all political prisoners and stop the political persecution under the US- Arroyo regime.

The government’s unkind and brutal treatment of Ka Satur and other political prisoners speaks of how the US-Arroyo regime treats human rights like dogs that they can beat around and not respect. All it had is lip-service.

The AJLPP chose to boycott the costly junket ot police and military officials who went on a publicity spree or "pulong bayan " in the different consulates of the Philippine government just to spew the official line of the Task Force Usig led by General Avelino Razon that was rejected even by the Melo Commision that “the victims killed themselves or they will killed in their comrades purges.’

Like the US-Arroyo cases filed against progressive party list personalities and the NDF Peace panel, consultants and staffs and other progressive leaders and activist , all these “ discovered graves “ cases stinks and smell like the rats in Malacanang.

Who will believe the incredible “mass graves” and” purges” that they created? Digging graves and presenting them as victims and even recyling old bones and old skulls had been the trademark of the US-Marcos regime.

The AFP used this method during the early years of the US- Aquino Regime. We advice the AFP and the Arroyo propagandist --please stop this cruel and inhuman method and try new tact. They should stop digging graves and acting like Fr. Damaso of Dr. Jose Rizal’s novels and respect the dead.
