A CALL TO ARMS: Fighting Conservative America From Your Computer Desk

by Andy Waar Friday, Jul. 14, 2006 at 6:32 AM

Have you ever wanted to get involved and have your voice heard? Here is an easy and entertaining way to do both from the computer you are using at this very moment.

Lying headlines. Slanted statistics. Absurd commentary. Selective figures. Rigged polls. Misleading rhetoric. It surrounds us all, but what are we to do about it? Face it. The average American is relatively powerless to prevent this spread of misinformation, but there is a way to act. When letters to Senators and Congressmen get lost in piles destined to shredders, there is a powerful way to spread information to the masses that is available to almost every American. This tool is the internet, specifically blogs.

The Right is extremely organized and up until recently united in a common direction. They shared their voices and rhetoric over many streams of communication and much of the propaganda was transmitted through the thousands of blogs setup by Conservative citizens. These blogs are accessible by everyone and create an excellent arena for debate; that is if Liberal America steps up to the challenge. Everyday there are thousands of posts and millions of comments. Comments are usually no more thought out than just simply agreeing to the Liberal bashing thesis established by the author and that's that. But, no more. It is time to challenge lies. It is time to stand up to these brainwashed followers and spread the gospel of truth. It is remarkably easy to join these blogs, (they usually only require a screenname, email address and password) thus making it remarkably easy to state your thoughts and have them be heard by the hundreds of people.

These Blogs usually have membership ranging anywhere from a hundred members to several hundred, with members spread out all over the entire nation. What could be an easier way to challenge Conservative America? The answer is nothing. All it takes is a computer with internet capabilities and five to ten minutes of the busy day. Blogs can even be accessed by computers in the Apple Store or Circuit City. They are accessible anywhere and are really quite entertaining. It is easy to spend hours arguing in these open forums and engaging these truly confused ideologues in debates that get hot quick.

With the President's approval rating continually dropping and Senate seats in question, it is imperative for Liberal America to organize and work to disorganize the Right. Everyday more and more blogs are spreading misinformation and lies to the people that swallow it and accept it without question as truth. It is time to strike in every way possible. This is a way for every American to voice his or her opinion without fear of oppression or harm. It may be hard to sit and read all the outrageous claims and editorials, but leave your comments and frequent these sites as much as possible leaving your opinions and insight, challenge their opinions and force them to use fact. Also, there is strength in numbers; recruit as many people as possible to take on this task. The good dead will certainly not go unnoticed and usually within minutes several attacks will be made on anything even slightly hinting at liberal ideals. When the Right feels threatened they hit hard with ad hominem attack and slanderous remarks. Remember to keep cool and always use reason and facts - these are the only things they don’t have.
