If enough people vote for the proposal for MoveOn to help the farm, it could expadite the fundraising.

Thanks for posting the farm on the MoveOn Forum, Ross

According to the FAQ
"MoveOn monitors the forum for input several times a day and uses the information to help set their agenda. Comments that are of immediate relevance are forwarded to the appropriate team member usually within hours. Comments of a more long term nature are compiled weekly in two summaries and passed to the team. "

Right now it's at number 281 so you have to scroll through a lot of garbage to get to it. But it only takes a few votes to move things up. You have to register and sign in to vote.

Right now the score is (9) 71% AGREE

281. Help save the South Central Farm in Los Angeles

For 13 years, impoverished people have been growing their own food on a large plot of land in South Central Los Angeles. It is believed that this oasis is the largest urban-community farm in the United States. The farm is in emminent danger of demolition vis-a-vis a developer, Ralph Horowitz, who was allowed to purchase the property from the city without public input.
Funds are desperately needed to buy the land back from Horowitz.

Horowitz wants to replace the farm with warehouses.
Several celebrities, including Tom Morello, Darryl Hannah, and Leonardo DiCaprio, have either spoken out in support of the farm and/or are there right now to resist bulldozers, which can arrive any time.

Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa has spoken in support of the farm, but he has only made broken promises. It's up to we the people raise the funds. This seems like an ideal cause for MoveOn. We, apparently, cannot count on our elected "representatives."
