FULL IMMIGRANT RIGHTS NOW! SUPPORT APRIL 10 NATIONAL DAY OF ACTION IN LOS ANGELES

Los Angeles, California – We, the People’s Community Organization for Reform and Empowerment (People’s CORE) and the Coalition in Defense of Immigrant Rights (CDIR) – Los Angeles calls on all immigrants and their advocates to support the National Day of Action, today, April 10 in 61 cities of the United States including our city- Los Angeles

While the Senate’s Immigration Reform Overhaul bill is still very racist and punitive to immigrants because it makes immigrants wait out long years before becoming citizens, and essentially treats them as “second class citizens.”, still the reactionaries in the US Congress led by the Republicans sat on the bill and did not act on it.

The impasse in the US Congress only highlights the deep racism and anti-immigrant bias of the parties in power. The Democrats are equally guilty for not taking a unified stand for the immigrants and letting the HR 4437 pass in the House of Representative tuning the clock of time back to the era of the legalized Klu Klux Klan and the “separate but equal” anti black equality legislations.

It is bad enough that immigrants from all over the world have no franchise (right to vote) even as they pay taxes just like anybody. All too often, they are forced to take the most exploitative and oppressive jobs that even working-class citizens would not accept. Their contributions to US society are doubtless immense, yet the rest of bourgeois society takes them for granted, and even depreciates them as scapegoats in times of economic downturns.

The People’s CORE and the CDIR call on all immigrant rights advocates, all immigrants and everyone who loves freedom and go all out for the May 1 Great American Boycott – A Day Without Immigrants and support the April 10 National Mobilization at Placita Olvera, 5:00 PM in downtown Los Angeles

Let us all act to stop racism and build a new movement for and in defense of civil rights and human rights that are being trampled upon in the belly of this capitalist beast.

Defend Immigrant Rights! FIGHT IMMIGRANT BASHING!

STOP SCAPEGOATING THE IMMIGRANTS

FULL RIGHTS FOR IMMIGRANTS, NOW!
