Why do the American people need a scapegoat...

They say history repeats itself, the sad part is that its true. Segregation was a big issue and now the same people that fought to get rid of it are bringing it back

African Americans fought to stop segregation for a long time. Caucasians in these times felt that African Americans were filth and they didn't want to poison the Caucasian race. Now in 2006, blacks are not only excepted but em brassed. All day and all night, sitcoms promote the black race. Sitcoms are all about African American lives. Why is this true? People got over the fact that discrimination only to find out that African Americans are great people. Current events have gotten African American community leaders pushing for segregation in jails. They do not want African Americans with Latinos. Aren't these the victims that are now doing the same to a minority as it was done to them? Wasn't it African Americans that said “ we are equal to all other races”? The answer is yes. This explains why they want to separate themselves from Latinos. They feel that Latinos are filth and they don't want to poison their own race.

Blacks are the most marketable race for the past 10 years and still going strong. Why? Because we realized that they have a lot to offer. In 15-20 years or maybe less Latinos will become the most marketable race. Why? People will realized that we have everything to offer that a white and a black man can. Latinos are being oppressed because we are minorities. Funny, isn't that the same thing that happened with our African American friends? Latinos are the scapegoats of society. To my understanding the only sitcom with based on a latino's life is “ The George Lopez show” which happens to be on ABC. Thats great, one for every 30 based on black lives. ABC hosts other shows about Latinos that air at odd times: late night, Sundays, early mornings. One television station out of 15. At the same time ABC hosts “The Jimmy Kimmel Show”. In this show they have a character named “Guillermo”. It appears that Guillermo is brought on the show to answer questions, the audience laughs when this man isn't making jokes. This is because they are laughing at his accent. Now why would people ridicule this man in front of millions of people? Latinos are the scapegoats of society. Now lets go back a few years to something called “Blackface”. When white people would paint their face with shoe polish and exaggerate their lips to look like a African American. They would perform plays and dance around like fools. The audience laughs, but not because they are funny. They laugh because of the exaggerated face of a African American. Why must society do this? Why must someone always on the end of a joke?

Now lets get back to the main topic. What can come from segregation in jails? Wouldn't that set us back a good 60 years? We can segregate these people but it is unconstitutional. They cannot lawfully segregate these humans because, "We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal." quoted from the “I have a dream” speech by MLK. We can segregate because in the end the government does what they want, But they wont because Latinos will fight back and then the revolution begins. If Latinos fight back they will succeed. Then who becomes the scapegoat?
