Protestors interrupted a speech this morning from Mayor Villaraigoso, challenging him to take action to save the South Central Farm.

During a conference at the Biltmore Hotel this morning Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa was interrupted mid speech by protestors bringing light on the mayors lack of action to support the South Central Farm. “If you care about oppressed communities so much, and you care about making LA green, why aren’t you working to save the South Central Farm?“, one protestor shouted as Villaraigosa

was speaking. Then a half-dozen people unraveled a banner that read: “Feed Families: Fight Greed”. The mayor has publicly spoken in favor of the farm, but has yet to day to have taken any concrete actions to save it. In a recent press conference he even went so far as to ask residents of Los Angeles to privately donate 15 million dollars to his office as a way to buy the farm. As the protestors were escorted out of the building, they chanted, “Food not Warehouses, Save the Farm!” There were no arrests.
