Congressional candidate Jim Gilchrist headlines Minuteman Project anniversary rally

September 27, 2005

Lake Forest, CA—Jim Gilchrist, founder and director of the highly acclaimed Minuteman Project, and candidate for Congress in the 48th District will be the featured speaker at a rally celebrating the first year of that organization's efforts to halt illegal immigration and help secure our borders. The rally will take place in the Grand Ballroom of the Irvine Marriot Hotel, located at 18000 Von Karman in Irvine, between 2pm and 7pm on Friday, September 30, 2005.

Joining Gilchrist at the rally will be will be well-known national Conservative leader Alan Keyes. Also in attendance will be John March, father of law enforcement officer David March who was slain by an illegal immigrant.

The public is invited to attend. Admission is free. The Ricky Lewis Band will perform.

Gilchrist founded the Minuteman Project to help the U.S. government enforce existing immigration laws, and to protect the United States from the invasion of illegal aliens. He described the Project as a "Neighborhood Watch for our understaffed U.S. Border Patrol." In April, 2005 Gilchrist led 1,000 Minutemen to the Arizona-Mexico border where they conducted a 30 day border watch. The Minuteman mission was a big success, winning high praise from organizations concerned about illegal immigration and border security.

A U.S. Marine Corps veteran and recipient of the Purple Heart award, Gilchrist is the Independent candidate in October 4 special election to fill the vacant 48th Congressional District seat. Gilchrist recently received a major endorsement from Representative Tom Tancredo, who declared, "I need Jim Gilchrist with me in Congress. Together Jim and I can fight to stop illegal immigration. The voters of the 48th Congressional District will be well represented by Jim Gilchrist-he's the real deal, he's a real leader."

Jim Gilchrist is the only Independent Candidate seeking to represent California’s 48th District in the United States House of Representatives. The special election is to be held on October 4, 2005. For more information about Gilchrist’s campaign for Congress, please visit www.JimGilchrist.com.
