US Senate Endorses Torture

With today’s Secretary of State confirmation and the upcoming confirmation for the Attorney General the US Senate has effectively endorsed the continued use of torture by the US military and other government agencies.

The good news is that some Senators did speak out and vote against confirmation. Locally Californians should be proud that at least one of their Senators, Boxer, voted NO.

The other Senator, Feinstein however, voted YES, in direct contradiction of the will of the majority of those she supposedly represents. This should be a clear signal to all Democrats, (and all those opposed to torture for that matter) of the need to defeat Feinstein in the coming primaries and run a Senator that will stand with Boxer and work to protect us from torture. Also a quick look at Feinstein’s voting record (on her own web site) revels that she sides against her own party most of time and votes with the right wing block.

Feinstein does not represent the will of the voters and she has betrayed the people of California. She does not deserve another term.
