---CAMPAIGN TO SUPPORT & STRENGTHEN SOCIAL SECURITY---

A special thanks to all that have contributed to the body of work done to make it possible for the people to reach editors of media outlets from all around the planet...

This is your contact information to start sending your own letters to the editor to let them know that you are in opposition to the Bush scheme to privatize Social Security!

Bush plans to do a media blitz to sabotage the Social Security Program, and there is no point in waiting for this to happen.

Start sending those letters now!!!!!

It's amazing to see what a small group can do if it's focused!

---Letters To Editors Across The Nation & Around The Globe---

See the bottom section for letters to editors around the planet...

Just in case...

It's possible that many (American Corporations) papers support the Bush plan to privatize Social Security and may not want to print your letters in opposition. By sending letters to editors of papers outside of the country, you take the battle to save Social Security to a whole new level.

For the moment...

Start with letters to the newspapers in the nation, and don't worry about any opposition to your efforts....

Send your letters individually to each editor/s of your choice. If you send your letters to the editors using the CC or BCC lines, the less likely that your letter will be printed.

(If you send mass e-mails in the cc or bcc lines, they still must be counted even if not printed)

As an example, the following gives you an idea of what a paper is looking for in regards to letters to the editor...

1) Click below for The Standard/South Coast Today. This is a letter to the editor form, so that you may see what most papers require for letters to the editor to be printed... Editors print the letters no matter where your from

(I believe that this is in Connecticut)

Clikc below for letter to editor form...

http://www.s-t.com/forms/editform.htm

Now that you see what they want, feel free to proceed with your letter...

Or send your letter directly to... letters@s-t.com in Connecticut.

Talking points that may be used for your letters may be in the following letter....

Make your letters generic, so that it they are relevant no matter where it is printed!

(Sample letter to editor below)

Dear Editor

Saving Social Security from Bush!

There is no crisis!

Americans need Social Security as their only safety net against the ups and downs of the profit taking financial markets that Enron, Global Crossing, and others have looted throughout the years!

The Bush scheme to privatize Social Security means the death of the SSI Program for the disabled, and is the beginning of the end for Social Security as we know it.

Reform of these programs always means that funding cutbacks will hurt millions down the road, and in this case we are talking about the elderly and disabled Americans across the nation.

There is no crisis in the Social Security Program and Bush must stop distorting the facts and he must end his scare tactics meant to sabotage Social Security, immediately.

According to the Congressional Budget Office, Social Security is solvent and can pay full benefits to all recipients until 2042.

The program can be slightly tweaked to keep it solvent for the next seventyfive years ahead and can continue to be the best retirement plan for the majority of elderly citizens that exists in America.

Bush is the problem for Social Security, not the solution!

The Bush Administration must stop looting Social Security as though it were the general fund, and must replace all missing Social Security funds immediately!

I oppose any scheme of the Wall Street/Bush Profiteers to privatize Social Security and I ask all my brothers and sisters to join me, to stand up against the profiteers that want to get their dirty hands on this national treasure!

!) You are opposed to any schemes to privatize Social Security whether it is large or small.

2) Tax the rich to make up for any future shortfalls that may occur. Demand that they raise the cap on the amount of income that is subject to Social Security which was set at ,000 in fiscal year 2003 and is still the same number presently in place. Place a cap on how much the rich can receive from Social Security since they have many more options in their retirement funding plans to choose from.

3) Stop looting the Social Security trust fund! The trust fund is solvent until 2043 if the looting of Social Security ends immediately and the money is fully replaced into the trust fund.

4) Enact new legislation that requires the Bush Administration/government to repay the .5 trillion that has already been looted from Social Security, and have it done in installments between now and 2018.

Sincerely,

Your Name

Address

Day time phone number.

Hows that for simplicity? The above sample letter has 413 words in it. Try to make your letters smaller.

Small is better! Many editors want 250 words or less.

Once you have your letter ready, send it off to the destinations of your choice.

Make slight changes in your letters now & then to keep it up to date as the battle progresses.

Below are the e-mails to the USA editors...

Some tips for the submission of your letters to the editor.

Feel free to use the above links to send letters to the editors of your choice across the nation.

Except as noted, it is OK to send the same or similar letters to more than one publication.

Always include your name, address, and daytime telephone number.

Don't submit a letter to a paper that has already run another of your letters in the past month or two.

Include exactly one e-mail address in the To: field. Don't send to editors via Cc: or Bcc:.

Don't submit the same or similar letters to multiple papers in the same media market.

Shorter is better. Most papers want letters of 250 words or less. Magazines such as Time want even less.

If you can comment on a specific story in the paper, do so, mentioning the headline and date.

Send your letter in the body of the e-mail message, not as an attachment.

Don't send specifically local letters to other localities.

If interested, after you send a letter, check that paper's or magazine's website to see if it ran.

If you can, get print version and the front page or editorial page banner of the papers's name. This takes time though to keep track of your efforts and may not really matter to many of you either way. But if you do keep track, please let the group know of your success'!
