A short article about the Navy Seals Iraq prisoner abuse scandal.

A series of about 200 photos of Navy Seals surfaced on the web which show the Seals abusing Iraqi detainees, and in some cases allegedly torturing Iraqi prisoners. The latest scandal is currently under investigation by Navy Special Warfare personnel.

In some of the photos Iraqi Prisoners with blood splattered on their bodies are held at gun point while handcuffed. In other photos Seals are shown sitting on top of Iraqi detainees–in a manner similar to the abuse at Abu Ghraib. Although, the detainees were allegedly tortured by the Seals–charges of sadistic sexual abuse have not yet surfaced–as they so blatantly did in regard to the events at Abu Ghraib.

Another secret report by Col. Stuart Herrington was made to Army Generals in December 2003 found that a joint Army Special Operations, and CIA group searching for Saddam Hussein had tortured Iraqi detainees. According to Josh White at the Washington Post: "The investigation, by retired Col. Stuart A. Herrington, also found that members of Task Force 121 -- a joint Special Operations and CIA mission searching for weapons of mass destruction and high-value targets including Saddam Hussein -- had been abusing detainees throughout Iraq and had been using a secret interrogation facility to hide their activities."

The court martial proceedings against Lynndie England are continuing and a trial is set for January 2005. England already gave birth to a boy in October, and the father was her estranged boyfriend Pfc.Charles Graener Jr.. England became known internationally because of photos of her posing with nude prisoners in a pyramid at Abu Ghraib, and Graener was also in some of the explicit photographs at Abu Ghraib, which included one with a dead body packed in ice in a body bag.

In a related story terrorists have attacked the US Consulate in Jeddah Saudi Arabia killing 12 on December 6, 2004. Saudi security forces were able to kill three of the terrorists. The terrorist are believed to be linked to the al Qaeda network in Saudi Arabia.
