Havana.-
Cuba repeated its invitation to US oil companies to join European and
Canadian firms and invest in oil exploration and extraction on the island and
its territorial waters. There are opportunities for all wanting to participate,
assured Juan Fleites from the Cuban Basic Industry Ministry before more than 400
US executives assisting the first 2004 round of negotiations on food and
agricultural products in Havana. The official explained that France, Canada and
Spain are the principal beneficiaries of exploration contracts authorized by the
Cuban government since 1990.
