KPFK used the sophisticated "instant runoff voting" system to count the votes. This requires a lot of volunteer labor to enter data data entry hand-marked ballots. Election geeks consider IRV the state-of-the-art in voting, because it prevents votes from being "wasted" on marginally popular candidates. People can vote their desires.
