Itamar Marcus: A Man with a critical message, just left Southern California.
He visited 4 campuses, and spent an hour on the Dennis Prager show. He lectured at the Museum of Tolerance, which was moderated by KABC talk show host Leo Terrell. Terrell, the "fair minded civil rights attorney" was emphatic about our taking Marcus' message seriously. He stressed the need to deliver Itamar's message to people who can help make a difference.
Itamar showed evidence of the constant incitement by Palestinian clerics, political leaders and society at large. He showed chilling footage of incitement by the PA to murder Jews. He focused on the indoctrination of young Palestinians to aspire to "Shahada " (death for Allah).
In one of the taped interviews that he showed, we witnessed two 11 year old educated Palestinian girls confirm that death for this "cause" is "sweeter" than having an independent Palestinian State, full rights, etc....since, "childhood doesn't last forever, and we can enjoy our rights in an afterlife." The PA accomplish much of their indoctrination through a variety of music videos played regularly on television, shown as commercial breaks and/or separate programs for hours each week.
Itamar's collection of recent footage of frenzied calls for the murder of Jews (and Americans), coupled with the records of children confirming that they have absorbed this message and personalized it, was deeply disturbing to all who saw the tapes.
But there are those who would whitewash this issue. Len Traubman, for
example, in an article written in Jewish News Weekly, tells us that he
feels that Itamar exaggerates the problem. That Itamar only presents a few examples, then generalizes the problem.
Not so. Itamar's office monitors Palestinian television 14 hours daily, and he has only selected some of the hundreds of examples of this problem in order to make this presentation during his lectures. In Itamar’s selection of tape clips, we are hearing from the Palestinian leadership, and Palestinian people themselves. We are not hearing from others speaking on behalf of the Palestinian people. Itamar has strung together tapes from Palestinian television without interrupting the footage that illustrates the points, and without editorializing. The Palestinians do not live in a free speech society, so there is no alternative voice challenging the calls to kill Jews and destroy Israel. As we have heard most recently from people like Nonnie Darwish who grew up in Gaza, Palestinians are fed hateful propaganda "like milk."
Why would anyone wish to downplay this dangerous issue, which has already caused so much pain and suffering to both sides?
