Call for a Revolutionary Anti-Capitalist Bloc at the Academy Awards in Hollywood
Calling all those who dare oppose not only war, but the warmongers and their economic system for a Revolutionary Anti-Capitalist Bloc to shut down this year’s Oscars in resistance to war on Iraq. There will be no business as usual while U.S. imperial aggression decimates a whole population. How perverse that such a conspicuous spectacle should take place as many thousands of Iraqis are massacred.
The multinational media conglomerates, the leading propagandists for the Bush Administration, prepare to receive accolades for their anesthetizing movies at the 75th Annual Academy Awards. The corporate media’s complicity in this slaughter will not go unopposed. It’s time to fight to win and hit them where it hurts in the only language they understand. The Oscars are set to broadcast in over 150 countries including Iraq and Afghanistan further illustrating the inescapable penetration of U.S. cultural hegemony around the world. Radicals of the world say no Oscars this year. Choke the war effort in solidarity with people around the world.
On Sunday March 23rd, the night of the Oscars, we will breakaway from the main peace rally taking place on Orange Dr. south of Sunset, north of DeLongpre in Hollywood. At 3:30 pm we will assemble around the intersection of Orange Dr. and Sunset Blvd. to engage in a militant march onto the Oscars with the aim of shutting it down.
